The Star of Sand Ocean

Prologue

It is nitghttime.
The chapter opens to a shot of the desert in a silvery light. There’s some dry grass and such, along with some dead trees spotted everywhere. There’s also some hills.
There are small cactuses and spurts of dry grass. The trees that are in the environment are mostly leafless and would offer little to no shade in the sunlight. The Belt mountains can be seen far into the background.

Narration
All was silent on the rolling drylands of the South Side: the mostly-occupied frontier, by settlers and travelers alike.
Silence hung in the whispering air, spread across the open sands.

The town is introduced as Dusttop, a quiet and quaint town in the middle of the dry desert. It shows off the front buildings, such as the Start Shot saloon and the sheriff’s office across the street, as well as the tree in the intersection of the three streets in the middle of town. There’s also a sign that shows that the name is indeed called Dusttop, with one of those overarching signs.
It comes to the Dusttop Jail, where there’s evidence of a new structure being built near it.
Cutting to the jail’s interior, there are guards who are sleeping on the job. On the wall next to them is a wanted poster for a criminal named Ogura Anguila. His bounty is 5,000 pearls precisely.

Narration
Yet that was about to change…

Inside the cell is said criminal. He has a sour look on his face. It's Ogura Anguilla, Sand Ocean’s Infamous Half-Witted Outlaw.

Ogura
Three days...
Three days ‘n’ he still ain’t here.

Ogura folds his arms and appears to be in deep thought.

Ogura
Maybe I should be the one to carry dynamite if I’m gettin’ stuck in ‘ere all the time.
Hell, I wouldn’t be here in the first place if it weren’t fer ‘em lawmen-

There’s a sudden bang on the door.

Lawman Guard A
Shut up in there!

Ogura mocks him and yells back at him with some exaggerated movement.

Ogura
How ‘bout you shaddap!

A bit of a closer shot of Ogura; Ogura’s eyes narrows.

Ogura (internally)
Don’t help they got them yacks1 everywhere…
If they were real smart, they’d take a bribe from the money I stole…

There’s a tap on the bars.
Ogura looks towards it, or at least acknowledges it.

Ting, ting, ting...
Psst. Ogura.
Get over here.

Ogura gets up and approaches the window.
It’s revealed to be Muga Calamar, Ogura’s partner in crime.

Ogura
Muga!
Where the hell have ya been!?

Muga
It takes time to get over here, ya know.

He looks like he has a stick of dynamite in his hands.

Muga
It’d also help all of us if I didn’t have to break ya outta jail… again…

Ogura doesn’t reply, and just huffs with irritation.
Muga starts to set a few sticks of dynamite on the window sill of the cell.

Muga
Oh, don’t give me that, Ogura…
Serves ya right for being put in here from screwin’ up.

Muga takes a match and lights the sticks. There's a loud hissing sound as the fuse burns.

Muga
Now get back unless ya want your head blown off.

Hisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss...

Ogura takes cover behind his bed in his cell.
A very close close-up. The dynamite is running out of fuse on the windowsill.

Hisssssssssssssssssssshhhhhh………………

The jail wall is seen being blown up, a large blast being seen from a good distance.
The dust begins to clear.
As it does, Ogura is seen walking out of the hole in the wall, walking through clouds of dust.

Ogura
Whooooooooooo-whee!!!
That’s what I’m talkin’ ‘bout!

He sees Muga outside, mounting on one of the two horses that are there: Ballast and Octavio, Ogura's and Muga's steeds respectively.
Muga turns to Ogura, waving to him.

Muga
C’mon!
We don’t got all night!

Guards come around the corner and into the cell to see what all the yelling and noise is.
They realize what’s happening and draw their guns and call out to one another.

Lawman Guard A
They’re gettin’ away!
After ‘em!

Ogura rushes out, hopping over the rubble as he’s being shot at. He mounts Ballast.
The lawmen are shooting desperately, and missing terribly. Gunshots can be heard.

Ogura
C’mon, Ballast!

They begin to ride away, leaving the lawmen and the guards in the dust. The lawmen are shooting at them as they escape.

Lawman A
Don’t let ‘em get away!

Ogura
With shootin’ like that, ya may as well guarantee we’ll get away!

The lawmen guards are going after them on foot in an attempt for it to be faster than getting horses from the municipal stable, but it’s obvious that they aren’t going to catch them since they are always falling over and stumbling.
Ogura and Muga are galloping away quickly with Ballast and Octavio.

Ogura
Chasin’ us without horses, as usual.
They’ll never learn!

Ogura and Muga are seen galloping far and far away from town, showing their distance from Dusttop to the Belt mountains. The lawmen seem to have stopped shooting and going after them.

Ogura and Muga are seen galloping northward. The mountains are in the background, along with a lot of small hills and overall desert wilderness.

They are traveling when Muga turns to Ogura.

Muga
Ya know, you oughta be lucky I was able to get out here to break ya out.

Muga is talking to Ogura off-panel.
Ogura shutters, looking stiff.

Muga
Imagine if he had to come and get ya.
And ya know how he gets.

Ogura looks unsure with a wary smile. His dialogue is shaky and unsure as well, as he adverts his gaze.

Ogura
S-Sure as hell…

Ogura gives Muga a sheepish look.

Ogura
But ‘ey, at least we got the money, right?

Muga
At least we do.

Muga gives Ogura a devious look.

Muga
But they haven’t seen the last of us.

They both ride off in the distance.

Ogura
Haha!
Damn right!
